Community Recreational Initiatives Society
Community Recreational Initiatives Society (CRIS) was founded in 2001 by outdoor enthusiast, Troy Becker, who continues as president. The society is registered as a non-profit organization in the province of British Columbia and federally registered as a recognized charity.
Based out of Kelowna, BC, Canada, CRIS endeavors to provide people with disabilities the opportunity to experience a variety of outdoor and wilderness environments through the human power of such equipment as kayaks and adaptive hiking chairs. CRIS is about adapting to the wilderness to make parks and waterways accessible to all outdoor enthusiasts.
Our boundaries are limited only by the imaginations and desires of our participants.
To provide relief to people with physical and mental disabilities by developing and implementing outdoor and wilderness recreation programs in order to promote independence, assist with integration, reduce isolation and improve mental well-being.
